Research

SAIL has an increasingly important role in simulation research, as well as in the testing and development of new surgical devices. Researchers and Members of the Departments of Surgery, Anesthesiology, Radiology or other affiliated departments can utilize SAIL to conduct their own research projects and participate in studies. Residents and junior faculty are encouraged to bring their own ideas for implementation to SAIL, where they will find a culture of creative support.

SAIL is also highly equipped for telesimulation and telementoring for surgery. This lets users in remote areas connect to simulation training modules with an internet connection.

Pharmaceutical industry and device manufacturers are welcome to conduct research with SAIL. The lab can offer in vitro testing of new drugs and devices, with standardized validation of performance. Manufacturers can evaluate the drug or device and identify its pitfalls and learning curves.
