Training & Simulation

SAIL offers a catalog of training modules and curricula that cover the most important practical aspects of the perioperative experience. Our highly-developed courses are targeted to address specific clinical needs.

These include:

Skills and Techniques

In addition to simulation training, SAIL provides independent training opportunities on basic tasks and core skills, as well as more advanced procedures. Courses focus on manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and use of instruments. Examples include suturing, knot-tying, central venous line placement, and basic laparoscopic skills.

Team Training

SAIL provides the opportunity to master the team skills that are crucial to helping patients, such as effective interpersonal and communication strategies, leadership and professionalism.

High-intensity team training scenarios can include trauma mock codes, crisis intervention in the operating room, and management of critical occurrences in the recovery room.   Team training can also focus on more procedural team tasks involving anesthesia, general surgery and interventional radiology procedures, PICC line training, cardiac ultrasound and airway management.

Crisis Management

SAIL offers scalable training courses for challenging situations involving individual patients up to mass casualty events. Highly-trained faculty can create a variety of realistic yet unpredictable scenarios that put heightened demands on health care providers.

Certifications

A variety of certification training courses are available. We have the equipment to meet nearly any certification need.

Industry Workshops

SAIL provides custom training in a variety of circumstances that allows industry leaders to test and train on new equipment.

Robotics

Using a surgical robotic simulator, this curriculum includes how to use the telemanipulator and troubleshoot problems. Students complete a didactic program that takes them from simple tissue dissection to more complex knot tying in the robotic simulator.

Quality and Safety

Simulation training can be used to enhance quality care to patients. SAIL can provide training on the latest techniques and best practices for providing quality patient care.
