Medical Students Attend Suturing Workshop

Third-year students from Weill Cornell Medical College attended a suturing workshop designed to enhance their skills prior to starting a six-week surgical clerkship.

Under the supervision of general surgery research residents, the medical students gained hands-on practice in executing the proper techniques for the most common suturing patterns. 

The workshop was held October 30 in the Skills Acquisition & Innovation Lab (SAIL).

The Skills Acquisition & Innovation Lab (SAIL) welcomed medical students on October 27 to practice their phlebotomy and knot-tying skills on synthetic vascular models. 

More than 100 second-year medical students attended the two-hour session, where they also got a chance to review high-definition educational videos presented by the SAIL staff. The students rotated in groups of 50 throughout SAIL and Weill Cornell Medical College.

West Point Cadets Visit SAIL
West Point cadets visit SAIL

Cadets from the United States Military Academy (USMA) at West Point visited the Skills Acquisition & Innovation Laboratory (SAIL) in May through an educational invitation from Weill Cornell Medicine in collaboration with the SAIL facility. 

The full-day program was designed to expose cadets who have an interest in studying medicine to the medical health field. The visit was arranged by Dr. Anil Mukerjee, assistant professor of history at USMA and the cadet's advisor.

Advanced Trauma Life Support Workshop Held in SAIL

The Skills Acquisition & Innovation Laboratory was the site of an Advanced Trauma Life Support workshop on February 21-22. The two-day workshop was hosted by the Department of Surgery's Division of Trauma, Burns, Critical and Acute Care.
